I wrote this song about a former mining town in northeast Oklahoma and debuted it at the Earth Day festival in Dallas, TX in April 2000.. I recoded it with the Alan Munde Gazette in 2008, and it was the title cut for the Gazette's second album.
I spent six weeks in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina doing response work for EPA. I wrote this song based on my own experiences as well as first-hand accounts from storm survivors I met during that time.
